2022 Bermuda Championship picks, predictions, best bets, odds, props: Top PGA expert says Danny McCarthy is fading

After the biggest event of the PGA Tour’s fall season, grinds and up-and-comers return to the spotlight at the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Rory McIlroy won the CJ Stars Cup last week for his 23rd win of the tournament, reclaiming the world No. 1 ranking. Now the likes of Seamus Power, Garrick Higgo and Chad Ramey will be aiming for a second win on the tour, starting in Thursday at Port Royal Golf Club. Lucas Herbert achieved his first tour triumph last year, winning the event in Southampton, Bermuda at 15 under par. The Australian shot 69 on Sunday to move one stroke ahead of Patrick Reed and Danny Lee. Port Royal is one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour at just 6,828 yards, but the elevation changes and unpredictable weather on the coastal course can make things interesting. John Daly is also scheduled to compete on a sponsor exemption.

The latest odds for the 2022 Bermuda Championship show Danny McCarthy as the 14-1 favourite, followed by Adrian Meronc (18-1) and Thomas Detry (18-1). Power (25-1) is also among the favorites along with Mark Hubbard (25-1) in the Bermuda Championship field in 2022. Herbert opted not to return to defend his title. Before concluding any picks or predictions for the 2022 Bermuda Championship, you should check out the best bets and sleepers on the PGA Tour from SportsLine’s in-house golf expert Patrick MacDonald.

After spending time at FanSided and NBC Sports EDGE, MacDonald joined CBS Sports as a golf writer in the spring of 2022. Now covering the sport from a broader perspective, MacDonald still enjoys dipping his toes into the betting pools on a weekly basis. base on the PGA Tour.

He took a measured approach to his outright picks and finished the 2021-22 season 42 units ahead in those games after beating Cameron Smith (22-1) at the Tournament of Champions, Hudson Swofford (250-1) at The American Express, Joaquin Niemann (70-1) at the Genesis Invitational and Justin Thomas (66-1) live at the PGA Championship.

At this year’s Zozo Championship, McDonald nailed the first-round lead, backing 80-1 Brendan Steele, before closing with four birdies to take a one-stroke lead after Thursday’s round. The expert also scored two of his three bouts there, including tournament winner Keegan Bradley over Corey Conners, one of the pre-tournament favorites. Then last week at the CJ Cup, McDonald was all in against defending champion Rory McIlroy, who would go on to win the tournament and defend his title. Anyone who has followed McDonald’s golf betting tips has won big money.

Macdonald has now surveyed the 2022 Bermuda Championship field and has locked down his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can head over to SportsLine now to see all of his PGA picks and predictions.

Top expert picks on the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship

Shockingly, MacDonald fades McCarthy even though he is the favorite and one of the best shooters in the field. But the pundit says the 29-year-old hasn’t quite found his form from last season, when he recorded five top 10 finishes. He hasn’t finished higher than 25th in four outings this year, missing the cut once. McCarthy also hasn’t won on the PGA Tour, and while this might be a good place to post his first win, MacDonald doesn’t like the price in this wide-open field. “Winless on the PGA Tour, McCarthy is a name that can easily be passed over at 14-1,” he says.

On the other hand, the expert is intrigued by Callum Taron, a big player who was tied for second place with Rory McIlroy after the first round of this year’s US Open. He went on to finish 31st, but had three top-10 finishes last season. He was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard at last year’s Bermuda Championships, so there will be some unfinished business. The 32-year-old tied for 13th at Sanderson Farms but has missed the cut in two other outings so far this campaign. But the Englishman is in the top 20 in the area in several strokes gained categories. See who else to choose here.
