The Lafayette-based company, which specializes in restaurant and food supplies, operates in more than 1,000 cities in the United States and has more than 26,000 restaurants on its platform. Last year, the company launched in over 90 new cities and expanded its scope of services in the on-demand delivery sector.
The addition of 7-Eleven is the latest example of Waitr’s commitment to expanding its delivery service, said Karl Grimstad, CEO and chairman of Waitr’s board, in a statement. “This partnership creates a new level of convenience for our customers. Effective immediately, we will be able to deliver your favorite food and snacks from hundreds of 7-Eleven locations directly to you.

Lafayette saw the largest increase in home mortgages of any U.S. subway station in the first quarter.
The number of housing loans in the Lafayette area increased by 16.7%, a significant increase after falling by more than 10% in the fourth quarter of last year, according to RealtyTrac and ATTOM Data Solutions.
The increase offsets the national trend of fewer mortgages issued after about two years at historically low interest rates. Eleven metro areas reported an increase in mortgages, with most reporting a 10% drop or more.
The average for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage on Thursday was 5.23%, according to national credit agency Freddie Mac. This is up 3.2% at the beginning of the year
Lafayette MSA had 1,123 secured residential mortgages in the first quarter, compared with 962 in the fourth quarter, but a decrease of 1,215 in the third quarter.
The number of mortgages secured for refinancing continued to decline, falling 13.5% to 1,172 in the Lafayette area, remaining close to 37% below the previous year’s total. Refinancing jumped to nearly 3,000 in the second quarter of 2020, when interest rates fell for the first time and fell to 1867 in the first quarter of 2021, the data show.
Nationwide, 2.71 million mortgages were issued in the first quarter, down 18% from the previous quarter and down 32% from the previous year, ATTOM said. Refinancing deals were the biggest reason for this, falling 22% from the fourth quarter and 46% from the previous year.
