The Ballard baseball team has won three, and the Bomber softball team fought in sections 1-4 last week.
Collins-Maxwell’s fifth (Class 1A) softball team reached 6-0 this season and 4-0 in the Iowa Star Conference South with an 11-0 elimination of Baxter in Collins on Friday. The Spartans also overtook North Tama 17-0 in three innings on May 31 at Traer and GMG 7-0 on June 1 in Collins and recorded a 5-3 victory over Hampton-Dumont-CAL on June 2 at Collins.
The Spartan baseball team reached 3-6 this season and 2-2 at ISC South after beating GMG 10-3 on June 1 and Baxter 12-2 on Friday. The Spartans lost to North Tama (7-3) on May 31 and Ankeny Christian Academy (8-1) on June 2.
Ballard’s baseball is in a hot series
Ballard’s baseball team won a 1-0 pitcher duel with Winterset on Monday at Nite Hawk Field in Slater to improve to 4-6 this season and 2-1 in the Raccoon River Conference.
The bombers also beat Adele-Desoto-Minbourn 7-1 on June 2 at Slater and Independence with a 7-3 difference on Friday at Independence. They missed both Norwalk double-header matches on May 31 with a pair of 3-2 losses.
Eli Rouse threw an incredible game in the victory over Winterset. He crossed the distance and shot with one striker with eight shots and no walks.
Ballard gave Rose the only support he needed with a breakthrough in the sixth inning. Jaden Pease scored the run, and Rose scored, and Jacob Ross doubled for the only scorers in the Winterset pitcher’s match, Justin Hackett, who hit six and hit three.
Bryce Hesig also threw a great game in Ballard’s victory over ADM. Hessig gave up running in the first inning, then threw six exclusion frames, ending with 11 outs and one expense, throwing two strikers.
Rowes doubled, tripled and drove in two runs, Blake Stover raised RBI, Ross was 2-for-3 with a double and series, Colby Calvert scored twice, Jaren Nyos scored and scored Hesig singles and drove in a series against the Tigers.
The bombers used a fourth inning with five runs to bring down Independence. Cole Heinen doubled and drove in two sets, Calvert and Hesig scored once and scored twice, Stover was 1-for-4 with one set and RBI each, Ross was 1-for-2 with RBI, and Jaden Katel finished 2- for -3.
Ross gave up two runs in four goals and six runs in 6 1/3 innings to win the Independence.
Ballard missed one game of Norwalk in seven innings and the other passed 10 frames.
All results in the game of seven innings were made in the fifth inning. Rouse suffered the loss after giving up three unused runs in eight hits with two outs and one expense in six innings.
Pealey doubled and drove in both bomber runs, and Ross and Rose scored and scored. Cattell came out 2-for-4, and Calvert and Stover had a goal.
In the extra-inning game, Ballard tied the score at 2-0 to level the game in the sixth, only to see Norwok play the winning streak in the 10th. Ross suffered the loss after giving up one run on one hit and two walks with four outs in three innings of relief.

In the CPU loss, Sam Vetter was 3-for-3 with double and two runs and RBIs each, and Ella Husak finished 3-for-5 with three runs. Maggie Mortensen was 2-for-4 with a three-pointer and a series, Jade Land finished 2-for-4 with one run, Casey Larson was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, Cora Johnson was 1-for-3 with RBI and Brooklyn Baumgardner added hit.
Maggie McCrady suffered a loss against the CPU after allowing five runs in four walks with two outs in 2 2/3 innings.
Baumgardner fired three strikers with six outs and five walks in the ADM loss. The bombers had five strikes in an attack on the Tigers.
Husak made a 2-for-3 and scored the only Bomber run. Wind himself doubled and took the RBI, and Mortensen and Baumgardner were once.

The Spartan softball team dominates the enemies of ISC
The Collins-Maxwell softball team worked briefly with North Tama, GMG and Baxter.
In the victory over North Tama, the Spartans scored 12 times in the third inning to break through the match. Kenzi Wierson finished 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, Alexis Houge was a 1-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, and Vivian Kahler finished 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI.
Avery Fricke was 1-for-1 with two runs, thefts and RBIs each, Erica Houge was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Haylee Merryman was 1-for-1 with running and two RBIs.
Erica Houge was the winning pitcher after throwing three perfect innings with seven outs.
Erica Houge fired an striker with eight shots in the victory over GMG. She also entered the cycle, performing perfectly 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
Alexis Houge was 2-for-4 with two runs, two stolen thefts and RBI, Avery Fricke 2-for-4 with one run, theft and RBI per piece, Wierson 2-for-4, Boege 1-for-3 and Sophie Wattonville 1-for-4 with a double.
Collins-Maxwell led 5-0 after two innings and came to victory against Baxter. Erica Hoag was 3-for-4 with triple, home run and seven RBIs, Fricke 3-for-4 with three runs and thefts each, Alexis Houge 2-for-2 with Hower, four runs and two stolen and Wierson 2-for- 3 with triple and RBI.
Erica Houge won the victory after throwing a striker with 12 outs in five innings.
Collins-Maxwell also beat Hampton-Dumont-CAL 5-3 on June 2 at Collins. The Spartans scored all five runs in the fifth inning.
Alexis Houge was 2-for-3 with running, walking and stealing and Fricke was 1-for-4 with one running, stealing and RBI and Wierson was 1-for-2 with RBI. Eria Houge hit 10 and gave up three hits and one walk as a winning pitcher.
Spartan baseball team hits GMG, Baxter
The Collins-Maxwell baseball team was impressive in ISC South’s victories over GMG and Baxter.
Weston Kahler was 3-for-3 with a three-pointer, three runs and an RBI, and Austin Kepple dropped two goals in 10 hits with six outs in six innings as the winning pitcher in the win over GMG.
Caden Hasbrouck was 2-for-3 with running and two RBIs and Cooper finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jace Huntrods 1-for-3 with two RBIs against GMG. Josef finished 2-for-4 with RBI, and Caleb Dvorak 1-for-4 with one run and RBI per piece.
Collins-Maxwell scored six runs in the first inning and was ahead of Baxter in six innings.
Blake Huntrods was 3-for-4 with running and three RBIs, Josef Dvorak 2-for-4 with Homer and two RBIs and RBIs each and Hasbrouck 2-for-3 with double and two RBI and RBIs each against Bolts. Kepple was also 2-for-3 with RBI, Luke Huntrods doubled, scored twice and drove in the series, Jace Huntrods finished 2-for-4 with running, and Kahler doubled, scored twice and took RBI.
Kahler was the winning pitcher against the Bolts. He had a dominant performance, playing all six innings and finishing with 13 outs.
Collins-Maxwell gave up six irresponsible runs in the third and fourth innings and could not recover from the loss to North Tama.
Wirson and Jace Huntrods qualified and ran, Hasbrook picked up the RBI, Josef Dvorak scored and scored, and Caleb Dvorak came out 2-on-3 with a three-pointer and a three-game losing streak. Jace Huntrods was the losing pitcher after conceding four six-goal runs and two four-outs in three innings.
The Spartans received five goals in the ACA loss. Caleb Dvorak came out 2-on-3 with a double and run, Kahler, Hasbrook and Blake Huntrods separately, and Luke Huntrods took RBI.
Wierson passed four wins in six hits with five outs and three walks in 4 1/3 innings as the losing pitcher against the ACA.
