Bardavon Health Innovations Acquires PeerWell to Be the First Comprehensive Digital Health Solution Focused on Workers’ Musculoskeletal Health

Bardavon and PeerWell combine personal therapy, virtual coaching and self-care to prevent and repair injuries

OVERLAND PARK, KS, June 14, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Bardavon Health Innovations acquires PeerWell, Inc., a musculoskeletal health application (MSK) aimed at consumers to create a truly hybrid solution for the treatment of workers in all of America. With this acquisition, the two companies will pair personal physical therapy with virtual tools to support patients before, during and after injury.

PeerWell technology complements the Bardavon NOTE® clinical management system and digital health platform for proactive optimization and organization of MSK care in a national network of over 21,000 providers of physical and occupational therapy.

Together, the combined platform has become the largest and highest quality network of MSK vendors in the United States with the following capabilities:

  • 21,000 physiotherapists and occupational therapists in all fifty states, with 90% coverage of the US population

  • Digital and virtual care pathways for the whole person that complement personal physical therapy for all common MSK diseases

  • Patented and clinically validated technology for remote monitoring

“We focus on the workers and the unique clinical and occupational needs of this population, understanding how patients’ existing health, lifestyle and work affect their recovery,” said Matt Condon, CEO and Founder of Bardavon Health Innovations. “Incorporating PeerWell’s leading digital engagement capabilities is the next evolutionary step.”

“Complete 360-degree care for MSK has not existed to date,” said Manish Shah, CEO and co-founder of PeerWell. “Every person is different and every patient’s response to treatment is different. This pairing between what is happening in the clinic and what is happening at home has a chance to change the health of workers on a completely different scale. “

As part of the cash and equity deal, PeerWell’s investors will become Bardavon’s shareholders, including institutional investors xSeed Capital and OMERS Ventures.

“MSK is an important area in which we have not yet seen well-integrated clinical and digital care,” said PeerWell board member Dr. Jonathan Slotkin, Contigo Health’s chief medical officer and vice president of neurosurgery at Geisinger. “Of the care trips leading to employer-sponsored health care costs, 34.2 percent is spent on MSK conditions – more than any other category, including cancer, diabetes and behavioral health.
