Berserk’s Guts / Zodd Fan Art is the most metallic thing you will see today

Berserk is a series that is no stranger to great action panels, and some new fan art celebrates a truly iconic moment in epic style.

As one of the most popular Seinen manga of all time, Berserker inspire legions of fans with its setting, characters and bloody aesthetics. Now, a new piece of truly stunning fan art from Shimhaq pays homage to one of the most iconic panels in the series.

Berserker is a dark fantasy manga series that takes place in medieval Europe, created by Kentaro Miura. It focuses on the lives and travels of Guts – an orphaned mercenary – and Griffith, the leader of a group of mercenaries called the “Hawk Group.” Much of the show’s appeal is watching Guts make his way through this fantastic and horror epic as he kills huge monsters and gods, but he also won recognition for how he developed in his interpersonal relationships. Berserker is known for his violence and horror as he deals with issues of morality and human nature, channeling American themes that are evident in the series’ iconic action scenes.

In their Twitter, the artist Shimhak publishes fan art depicting a redesign of the defining moment between Guts and Zodd. In the original panel, Guts is depicted riding Zod’s back in an amazing team to overthrow Emperor Ganishka. Alliances and friendships are often subject to change, especially given Griffith’s rainbow. Fan art is an almost direct 1: 1 reproduction of the scene, except for a few details. The original panel very expertly conveys the chaos of the moment, so Shimhaq makes the whole scene a little easier to breathe, minimizing the chaotic flashes of the original. Fan art presents Guts and Zodd in their approach, which allows people to appreciate the details of the scene. The new art actually shows the faces of Guts and Zodd and really introduces fans to the battle. The vibrant color palette also serves to emphasize the intensity of the scene.

Although the creator of the series Kentaro Miura unfortunately passed away recently, the gratitude and love of the fans for the series has not diminished in the least.
