This week’s featured Wausau area business is a new brunch spot in Rib Mountain that will have you rethinking breakfast from the moment you take your first bite of their amazing food. Era Pancakes & Cafe, 151523 North Mountain Road, is much more than just another pancake house. Their extensive, creative menu includes a variety of French pancakes, brioche French toast, omelets, skillet bowls, and breakfast classics. But even traditional offerings have a unique twist, from avocado bacon benedict to fiesta tacos, Nashville chicken and waffles, and more. Drinks are also available, including Bloody Marys and Mimosas, with a fresh, welcoming environment that will keep you coming back week after week. Breakfast items are served all day, every day, but if you wait until 11am, you can also choose from a selection of crisp salads, half-pound burgers, melts, wraps and sandwiches. They also offer several specials during the week – all of which focus on a farm-to-table approach for the freshest dishes possible. Owner Ardian Yashari said his staff are the jewel in the restaurant’s crown, with a team working to ensure every guest is served with a smile. Read on to learn more about Era Pancakes & Cafe – and see why their motto is “time, dedication and damn good food.”
I need to know why the restaurant is called Era?
Era is my daughter’s name. I choose the name because we are a family restaurant, hoping to convey the family in our establishment.
What do you love most about your chef?
He is always willing to try any new idea that pops into my head. He goes the extra mile to make sure each dish comes out better than the last.
What makes your restaurant unique?
Our restaurant is unique not only because of the industrial, modern decor, but also because of the fact that we will always work hard to ensure that each of our customers leaves with a smile on their face and a full stomach.
What do you want customers to feel when they walk through the door?
Excited! Like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what to try next.
Tell us more about the food. What will diners find – and what’s your favorite thing on the menu?
Our food is your average brunch food with a few items that will make you feel like you’re “living on the edge”. You can find your breakfast staple with two eggs, or you can step it up a notch and get breakfast tacos with a kick! Trying to pick a favorite subject is like trying to pick your favorite child. It is impossible! One of my favorite things is definitely the new BBQ Beef Benedict. The flavors are out of this world. One of the most popular products, without any surprise, are the Berry blast pancakes. We use fresh mixed berries and place them on top of our fresh homemade pancakes that melt in your mouth with every bite. You can’t go wrong when you order one of our berry items.
You emphasize the farm-fresh aspect of your approach. Why is this so important to you?
We want to make sure we offer not only good food, but food that’s good for you too. Everyone wants to eat the “right things”, so we try to make the search easier for our customers.
What’s the best thing about doing business in the Wausau area – and how has the customer response been so far?
Definitely the friendly attitude of all customers and surrounding businesses. You can’t beat the sense of togetherness that Wausau gives you. This is definitely seen daily by our wonderful customers.
