Call for Artists: Create a Wreath for Art Walk Edmonds

Entries are due Sept. 23 for the third annual Edmonds Wreath Walkrd!

Edmonds, Washington, September 3, 2022– If you are a local artist, we need your help! Art Walk Edmonds (AWE) is seeking wreath artists for the 3rd Annual Edmonds Wreath Walk.

Created in 2020 as a way for artists to showcase their creativity during the pandemic, AWE continues the tradition of hanging juried, original, artist-designed and decorated wreaths in select downtown Edmonds showcases during the holiday season. Wreaths will be hung this year From November 17 to December 15. We invite you, our talented Art Walk artists, to use your creativity and design a wreath.

details:

  • All wreaths will be 24 inches in circumference. Art Walk Edmonds will provide the base of the wreath. Artists will choose either a base of artificial evergreen or a vine (photos below).
  • Artists interested in participating should apply by September 23 (submission details below).
  • Art Walk Edmonds will judge wreath concepts and notify artists if their wreath is selected by September 30.
  • Art Walk Edmonds will match each artist’s wreath with a spot in downtown Edmonds to hang.
  • Each approved artist will receive a $200 stipend. (A check will be sent to the artist after the wreath is hung.)
  • Wreaths must be completed and photos sent to AWE no later than November 13th and hung NO LATER than November 16th.
  • AWE encourages wreath artist to attend the November 17th and December 15th Art Walk Edmonds (5-8pm) to talk about their wreath, their artwork, and help promote the online wreath auction (if the location of their a wreath is open during the Art Walks).
  • Each wreath will include a biography and contact information for the wreath artist that will be hung next to the wreath.
  • A photo of the wreath, location and biography will be featured on the Art Walk Edmonds website.
  • All wreaths will become the property of Art Walk Edmonds and will be auctioned during the month they are hung.

What we look for in a wreath:

We are looking for artists who think outside the box and create high quality designs using their own styles and techniques. All proposals will be judged for acceptance based on the following:

  • Wreaths that have a unique, creative theme. (Must be family friendly and non-political). Wreaths should be festive, but they don’t have to be festive.
  • Wreaths that have good artistic composition.
  • Well-filled wreaths that feature high-quality, original, artist-created elements.
  • Wreath materials must be non-perishable.

Art Walk Edmonds held monthly year-round in the picturesque coastal town of Edmonds. It consists of new art displayed throughout the month and an Art Walk held on the third Thursday. With numerous downtown galleries and businesses that host local and regional artists, Art Walk Edmonds draws visitors from all over the Seattle metropolitan area. The mission of this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is to expose the regional community to all types of art, including visual arts to music, dance, theater, performing arts, culinary arts and the written word.
