Cowboys’ Mika Parsons has eyes to break NFL’s 2022 dismissal record: “Fifteen is the minimum” for year 2

Mika Parsons is not just one of the best young players in the NFL. He is also one of the new ambassadors of the NFL’s best video game. Months after teaming up with Viking star Justin Jefferson to win the virtual “Madden NFL 22” Pro Bowl, Cowboys pass rusher is in Los Angeles to shoot a new commercial for this year’s “Madden NFL 23”.

Before the release of “Madden NFL 23” on August 19 and his own return to the field for the Cowboys training camp, the current rookie of the year in defense spoke with CBS Sports about his partnership with “Madden”, expectations for 2022 and NFC East rivalries :

Can you annoy your role in this Madden commercial? Will you be suitable for this?

Parsons: I will do a few things to increase my abilities, to raise my rating a bit (in “Madden”). I’ll be a little in uniform. Just tell people to be ready and if you’re in franchise mode, make number 11 for the Dallas Cowboys your choice in the first round.

Do you plan future acting concerts after this commercial?

Parsons: I do it. I do it. I definitely see myself on TV. People say I have a TV smile, a TV face, so I’m ready to test my acting skills. By acting and obviously broadcasting a game, I just want to be in the game as long as possible.

You’ve been around Madden for a while. Who is your team when you play?

Parsons: I’d say it’s probably Packers, just because their defense is really good in the game. Packers or Bucks.

And which quarterback is best to play with?

Parsons: Or (Patrick) Mahoms, or Lamar (Jackson).

How about Dak Prescott?

Parsons: I would say that in the game he is definitely a quarterback in the top 10 to play in the game.

What do you think about Madden bringing the late John Madden back on the cover for this year’s game?

Parsons: You know, I thought it was pretty amazing, not just because of its passage – RIP – but when you love the game, you understand why John is the cover of the game. He (did) everything possible to stay in the game and love the game and even help others understand the game. He made so many people around the world love the game. For ‘Madden’ to do this, it was a great thing for them because we love this game, not only in real life, but also online with friends. I think this year ‘Madden’ just represents the love of the game, putting John on the cover because he’s for it.

Have you had a chance to play “Madden NFL 23” yet?

Parsons: I played the beta. I think it will be a much better game, definitely in defense. The attack is definitely a little harder to play this year, but as a defender I like that you can’t just rely on funny games and things like that to be good at the game. It will definitely be based on skills that were not the case last year; was just like who could throw it deep?

What specifically stood out in terms of better defensive play?

Parsons: This (new feature) FieldSENSE, the zones are much better, people understand where they need to be on the field, the way they can catch routes.

And what are your chances of being an athlete on the cover of Madden next year?

Parsons: Oh, man, I’m not sure, I heard about this Madden Curse. But man, Madden’s cover would be a dream come true. To see some of the greatest players on this cover would definitely be a dream come true.

In terms of your real career as a player, how do you cope with the high expectations after your star season for a rookie?

Parsons: I just accept the blessings God has given me. I don’t feel I have to live up to anyone’s expectations other than my own. If I can live with that, I can handle it. I’ll just go out there and play my game. I don’t want to go out there and pursue anyone’s story, I just have to do my part, and that brought me here and I will continue to do so.

But do you mean any figures for 2022, after hitting 13 sacks as a rookie?

Parsons: Yes, 15 is the minimum. 15 is what I want to hit. But definitely 23 is the goal, to break the record.

Your Cowboys, meanwhile, receive the fewest bets among NFC East teams to win the division. What is your reaction to this?

Parsons: I don’t care because we were neglected last year. And that only comes with the game. We’ll just focus on the last 52, 53 Dallas Cowboys in this room and we’ll get better every week. We just need to control how we improve every week and hope you lose your money.

Among these NFC East rivals, which of the Eagles, Giants and Commanders seems the toughest for 2022?

Parsons: I think they all have really good competition. I mean, this is the NFL. It will come down to who can perform.

Which of the rival QBs is the easiest to fire?

Parsons: I don’t think any of them are too easy. It’s really hard. I mean, (Carson) Wentz returned to the division and wasn’t there. I’ve never touched Daniel Jones either. He never touched Daniel Jones; I think he got hurt in our game and didn’t even play after that. And then Wentz, I never played it. We touched (Jalen) It hurts a bit, but I had COVID in the last game. These guys are really new to me, to be honest.

Last question: Who has more great plays this year, you or Trevon Diggs?

Parsons: Um, me. I told Tre that I could lead the team of my choice this year. We don’t have the money for that, but I really trained my hands this year to get a few choices this year.
