Adopt-A-Street

The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street program allows local families, businesses and community groups to perform a valuable public service by adopting sections of street to keep litter and debris free. Groups that participate in this program will have their names listed on the city’s website and signs will be placed on the street they have accepted. Summer fireworks

Okaloosa Island continues its summer fireworks series. The show starts at 9pm every Wednesday through August 10 at the Boardwalk, 1450 Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach. Organizers suggest making it a dinner and show with a front-row view from one of The Boardwalk’s restaurants, or grab a quick bite and spread out on the beach to watch the fireworks go off from the pier.

Wine tasting

A toast to the ladies! The Emerald Coast Food and Wine Association Wine and Food Tasting is 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9 at WaterVue on Brooks Street, 203 Brooks St. SE, Fort Walton Beach. Adoption of pets

If you are interested in rescuing a pet, Step One Automotive hosts a monthly adoption event.

Step One Automotive will host a pet adoption event from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, July 9 at Subaru Fort Walton Beach, 916 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach.

Looking to add a new furry friend to your family? Do you need a new companion? Well, you’re in luck! Ritter style country music

Jesse Ritter will be playing at Al's Beach Club soon.

Jesse Ritter will provide live music at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 9 at Al’s Beach Club, 1450 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE, Fort Walton Beach. Shake the sand from your shoes and bring some country to your soul at the event. Jessie is a country singer/songwriter from Southeast Missouri. Tips are appreciated at the free show. The water around us

The Florida Public Archeology Network, Choctawtachi Basin Alliance and DFWB Coastal Resources will present information during the Water Around Us Summer Series for Kids from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 9 at the Destin History and Fisheries Museum , 108 Stahlman Ave, Destin. Cost is $3 for children 7 and older and $5 for adults. Admission is free for younger children. There will be bubbles, hands-on activities and demonstrations.

Purple Monkey concert

Purple Monkey will be playing live in Okaloosa County soon.

The Purple Monkey Band will be playing live from 6:00pm to 10:00am Saturday, July 9 at LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant, 290 Yacht Club Drive, Niceville. Purple Monkey is a band from Northwest Florida. They are known to play covers and original alternative, blues, funk and rock.

Summer camp

An additional summer camp for children is July 11-15 at Shalimar.

Saneka’s Wildwood Summer Environmental Summer Camp begins July 11 and runs through July 15 at Wildwood Garden Shoppe & Nursery, 6 10th Ave., Shalimar. The event features various activities for children aged 8-13 from 9am to 1pm each day. Cost is $175 per person plus Eventbrite fees, https://bit.ly/3ultEF9.

Drawing and painting class

Children attending a painting and drawing class will learn how to bring these flowers to life.

Instructor Corina Zalace will be teaching a two-day class for children ages 5-16 this July! The class will be conducted with watercolor, acrylic paint and black pens. There are 6 spaces available per session and each session will be different from the other. to reserve a seat for your child. $27.50 per child attending one class. For 2 or more children attending a class, it is $22.50 per child. No previous experience required, supplies included. Reserve a spot for your child at 850-729-2600. 4-H Cultural Day Camp

One of the summer camps for kids is provided by 4-H in Okaloosa County.

World 4-H Day Camp is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church Multipurpose Building, 2401 Partin Drive North, Fort Walton Beach. This is a cultural experience for youth ages 5-7 who will learn about different cultures, try new foods, play games, do crafts and more. Registration includes lunch, snacks, drinks and a t-shirt. Moana the movie

The Friends of Navarre Library will host a summer movie session featuring the PG movie Moana. The group will provide refreshments during the event, which begins at 4 p.m. July 12 at the Navarre Library, 8484 James Harvell Road, Navarre. Ninja Drawing Class

Ninja is the subject of an upcoming Drawing with a Twist class.

Painting with a Twist will have a kids camp – choose your ninja! Event for children over 8 years old. Hours are 10 am to 1 pm on July 13 at Painting with a Twist, 255 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE, Suite B-8 Fort Walton Beach. Jana will be the instructor. Attendees will learn some basic art techniques, play games, listen to music, and have time for a light snack, which is provided. Cost is $50 per person. Oceans of possibilities Storytimes

Stories about ocean monsters and more will be part of Destin's Summer Storytime activities.

The Destin Library Storytime Series for Cuddlers and Toddlers continues every Thursday and July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Captain Leonard Destin Park at 101 Calhoun Ave. They are for ages 0 to 3, but are open to all children. Alternate Thursdays, they are at the Destin Library, 150 Sibert Ave.

This year’s summer reading theme is Oceans of Possibilities, so come hear stories about ocean monsters, ocean wildlife and other aquatic wonders. There will also be ocean-themed finger games, stretching and yoga fun. Feel free to bring a blanket or mat to participate.
