The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street program allows local families, businesses and community groups to perform a valuable public service by adopting sections of street to keep litter and debris free. Groups that participate in this program will have their names listed on the city’s website and signs will be placed on the street they have accepted. Okaloosa Island continues its summer fireworks series. The show starts at 9pm every Wednesday through August 10 at the Boardwalk, 1450 Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach. Organizers suggest making it a dinner and show with a front-row view from one of The Boardwalk’s restaurants, or grab a quick bite and spread out on the beach to watch the fireworks go off from the pier.
A toast to the ladies! The Emerald Coast Food and Wine Association Wine and Food Tasting is 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9 at WaterVue on Brooks Street, 203 Brooks St. SE, Fort Walton Beach. The water around us
The Florida Public Archeology Network, Choctawtachi Basin Alliance and DFWB Coastal Resources will present information during the Water Around Us Summer Series for Kids from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 9 at the Destin History and Fisheries Museum , 108 Stahlman Ave, Destin. Cost is $3 for children 7 and older and $5 for adults. Admission is free for younger children. There will be bubbles, hands-on activities and demonstrations.
Purple Monkey concert
The Purple Monkey Band will be playing live from 6:00pm to 10:00am Saturday, July 9 at LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant, 290 Yacht Club Drive, Niceville. Purple Monkey is a band from Northwest Florida. They are known to play covers and original alternative, blues, funk and rock.
Saneka’s Wildwood Summer Environmental Summer Camp begins July 11 and runs through July 15 at Wildwood Garden Shoppe & Nursery, 6 10th Ave., Shalimar. Drawing and painting class
Instructor Corina Zalace will be teaching a two-day class for children ages 5-16 this July! The class will be conducted with watercolor, acrylic paint and black pens. There are 6 spaces available per session and each session will be different from the other. to reserve a seat for your child. $27.50 per child attending one class. 4-H Cultural Day Camp
World 4-H Day Camp is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church Multipurpose Building, 2401 Partin Drive North, Fort Walton Beach. This is a cultural experience for youth ages 5-7 who will learn about different cultures, try new foods, play games, do crafts and more. Registration includes lunch, snacks, drinks and a t-shirt. The Friends of Navarre Library will host a summer movie session featuring the PG movie Moana. Ninja Drawing Class
Painting with a Twist will have a kids camp – choose your ninja! Event for children over 8 years old. Oceans of possibilities Storytimes
The Destin Library Storytime Series for Cuddlers and Toddlers continues every Thursday and July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Captain Leonard Destin Park at 101 Calhoun Ave. They are for ages 0 to 3, but are open to all children. Alternate Thursdays, they are at the Destin Library, 150 Sibert Ave.
This year’s summer reading theme is Oceans of Possibilities, so come hear stories about ocean monsters, ocean wildlife and other aquatic wonders. There will also be ocean-themed finger games, stretching and yoga fun. Feel free to bring a blanket or mat to participate.

Destin Kids’ Night Out is from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, Wednesday, July 15th at the Destin Community Center at 101 Stahlman Blvd. Kids will have a night full of games, crafts, food and lots of fun.

Draw like an artist
3rd Planet Brewing’s second annual Paint Like an Artist Summer Art Series features sip-n-paint style sessions based on a masterpiece.
The final session is 6pm on July 18 and features Salvador Dali’s Perceiving a Memory.

ECTC The Storm
Emerald Coast Theater Company’s production of The Tempest is a family-friendly comedy performed from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday through July 28 at Grand Park, 495 Grand Blvd., Miramar Beach. Make your way through the storm to a magical island full of scaly fish men, forest spirits and a powerful wizard pulling all the strings. Sit in the splash zone and experience the action up close – if you dare!
This show is free and open to the public. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. In the event of rain, The Tempest will be performed at the Emerald Coast Theater Company upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard.
Grand Boulevard Farmers Market
The Grand Boulevard Farmers Market is held every Friday and Saturday from 9am to 1pm at Grand Park in the heart of Grand Boulevard in South Walton. Bring your shopping bag and stock up on local produce, eggs, jams and pies. Homemade soap, good olive oil and pickled things you can take.
Rosemary Beach Farmers Market
Come check out the 30A Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach on Sundays from 9am to 1pm. The local farmers market is held on Sundays year-round and Thursdays during the summer months at North Barrett Square along Scenic 30A.
Taylor Dane’s concert has been rescheduled
The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) has announced that Taylor Dayne’s concert performance scheduled for Thursday, May 26 has been rescheduled to a later date due to inclement weather. Due to the impending bad weather and for reasons of safety and logistics (concert preparation). The concert has been postponed to Thursday, October 13. Tickets will automatically transfer to this new date.
