Golf match for the 2022 match, predictions, odds: Watch Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers vs. Patrick Mahoms, Josh Allen

Four of the most recognizable players in the National Football League will exchange their books for green papers on Wednesday, as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers seek to use their experience on the golf course against Patrick Mahoms and Josh Allen. The quartet has been in the spotlight before on the golf course over the years at various pro-ama, celebrity events and charity outings, but has never been mixed with NFL Sunday junk talk and fireworks.

The sixth edition of The Match is scheduled to take place later this week just outside of Las Vegas at the Wynn Golf Club. The show, which first pitted Tiger Woods against Phil Mickelson in 2018, has since taken on a new form and become a team charity event.

The game has had many different formats over the years, including an 18-hole game by Woods and Peyton Manning against Mickelson and Brady. Other athletes participated in later broadcasts of the event, including Charles Barkley, Stephen Curry and Rodgers.

This match is not the first to be presented at the Wynn Golf Club. Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka faced off last November in a one-on-one battle in which Koepka emerged victorious. In addition, this is the first edition that will not include any professional golfer.

Teams

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers: Brady has succeeded in almost everything in his life … except for this event. The seven-time Super Bowl champion will appear for third place in The Match and remains undefeated. Brady had many memorable moments on his two previous outings, from ripping his pants to getting out of the middle of the fairway. The 44-year-old has not yet shown his best, but can boast an approximately 8-handicap. This is in the higher class of the four players, but the swing is silky and most experience should count for something. Rodgers, meanwhile, stole the show in his first and only appearance at The Match, throwing punch after punch while gently throwing punches at teammate Bryson DeShambo. Rodgers has the lowest handicap of all, reaching about five. He has since competed in the American Century Championships and finished 24th ahead of Alfonso Ribeiro, who is a good golfer in his own right. Despite their battles on the field, he and Brady need to have good chemistry and supremacy when it comes to what to expect in this format.

Josh Allen and Patrick Mahoms: Being young and inexperienced can be enough to move this duo to victory. Allen was last seen among spectators at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf fans when he joined forces with Keith Mitchell. Coincidentally, he was a late addition to the field after he and Bills were knocked out of the playoffs in the AFC Divisional by Mahomes and the Chiefs. According to the USGA GHIN handicap system, it is approximately 8-handicap – like Brady – and there should be no problems in front of the cameras. Mahomes could be the band’s wild card, which slightly reflects his (and Allen’s) game on the grid. He competed in the American Century Championship and even won an event at the Wynn Golf Club a few months ago along with his main target, Travis Kelce. He may have the greatest firepower in the bag, but it is relatively unknown whether he is able to harness it properly. He tied for 50th out of 87 players on Lake Tahoe last July, sandwiched between ESPN’s Joe Buck and LSU football coach Brian Kelly.

Choices and odds

Odds courtesy of Sportsline: Brady / Rodgers -160 | Allen / Mahoms: +140

It’s worrying to link money to a charity event, especially since The Match has been quite unpredictable over the years. The outsider has won three times in the previous five games and based on this story the smartest option is to just take the country with plus money. According to their official shortcomings, the duos are fairly even in skill, so the +140 price of Allen and Mahomes makes the right game despite the lack of experience in this format. Choose: Allen / Mahoms +140
