The Medifast study reveals that lack of time and support are the biggest barriers for consumers
BALTIMORE, June 21, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Medifast (NYSE: MED), the global company behind one of the fastest growing health and wellness communities, EIGHTHVIA® today announced the findings of a company-sponsored study * examining adult eating patterns in the United States and health perspectives. According to the study, 70% of adults in the United States consider their health a top priority in life, the most common answer even to family and career. And yet, completely half of all adults in the United States find it difficult to prioritize their healthquoting lack of time and positive influences which inspire healthy choices as major barriers.
The study also found that almost three out of five adults in the United States followed a diet at least once in your life trying an average of five different approaches to help them:
- Feel good physically (50%)
- Lose weight (48%)
- Increase their energy and immune system (47%)
- Feel good mentally (47%)
However, only 28% of those who have been on a traditional diet say it has continued 79% say they are likely to return to their previous eating habits after completion or abandonment of the diet.
In particular, two-thirds (67%) of adults in the United States agree that they would be more successful in achieving their health goals if they had more support. In particular, 66% say that the support of others on the same trip is valuable when you make lifestyle changes.
