Instagram has surpassed the usual photo show it made its name by expanding into instant messaging, video and, of course, stories – a Snapchat-like format that allows you to post content that stays visible for only 24 hours.
Although you can choose to post single images and videos in your Instagram history, you can create something even more eye-catching by combining several photos together. The option to do so is available on Instagram itself, while third-party apps offer even more layout and formatting options.
Not only is this an easy and fun way to add a little more flair to your story, but it also means fewer photos left along the way. So keep going: pack as many photos as you like.
It’s a good idea to check out the built-in features available on Instagram first, just to know what’s possible without third-party apps. Press and hold Your story from the home screen, then tap Add to your storyfollowed by Chooseand select the images you want to use. Choose The next one and Design and start organizing.
The buttons at the top allow you to add stickers, text and other elements, and the one on the left allows you to change the layout of your collage – the options available here will vary depending on how many images you choose. When you are happy with how everything looks, use Your story (everyone sees it) or Close friends (only close friends see it) posting options.
While it’s convenient to have these options on Instagram, they’re not the most advanced and don’t give you much choice when it comes to positioning photos or adding effects. If you really want your photo collages to shine, you will have to turn to a separate application.
