HyperX Named Lead Peripheral Partner for SoLa I CAN Technology & Entrepreneurship Center

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–HyperX, the gaming peripherals team at HP Inc. and brand leader in gaming and esports, today announced that it is the lead peripheral partner of the SoLa I CAN Technology & Entrepreneurship Center powered by Riot Games. SoLa Impact is a family of real estate funds with a dual strategy focused on building high-quality affordable housing in black and brown communities. The SoLa I CAN Foundation, affiliated with SoLa Impact, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, aims to improve the lives of Los Angeles residents in low-income communities and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by providing educational opportunities and economic mobility.

HyperX has donated a range of gaming peripherals to support the SoLa Technology and Entrepreneurship Center, powered by Riot Games, including its South Los Angeles eSports Arena and Gaming Center. HyperX gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, mouse pads, microphones and other products are being used to help SoLa build facilities for local students to use while visiting the center. The operation is in line with HyperX’s goals to improve the representation of black and brown talent to enter the gaming industry workforce as gaming professionals.

“HyperX is proud to help make an impact with SoLa Impact and the SoLa I CAN Foundation by providing learning tools at the Center for Technology and Entrepreneurship. The hub is helping to bridge the digital divide, promote diversity in technology and change attitudes about gaming. Community members who come to the center will have the chance to achieve their dreams and increase their skill levels in a positive gaming environment,” said Wendy Lecott, Head of Strategic Alliances, HyperX. “By having a place to pursue their interests and aspirations based on a shared love of gaming, South Los Angeles residents will have the chance to help shape the future of gaming culture and esports.”

“HyperX’s donation of equipment to the center helps transform this facility into a world-class institution capable of providing our local youth with an incredible access point to technology education and career training,” said Sherry Francois, Chief Impact Officer of SoLa Impact and executive director of the SoLa I CAN Foundation. “The SoLa Center for Technology and Entrepreneurship, powered by Riot Games, is South Los Angeles’ first-of-its-kind eSports and gaming facility where youth and community members can learn and develop their skills to prepare for tomorrow’s workplace strength.”
