In redefining technology for a better future, Singapore calls for openness, vigilance and cooperation

Singapore to further develop its efforts in quantum technology with an additional boost of S $ 23.5 million

SINGAPORE, May 31, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Asia leading technology event, Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG), opens today at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia with ATxSummit, an invitation-only event that sees business, technology and government leaders around the world discuss the myriad opportunities and challenges of the digital space. Organized by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the summit was opened by the guest of honor, Mr. Heng Sui Keith, of Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister for Economic Policy, who spoke about Singapore’s approach to redefining technology for a better future.

DPM Heng emphasized the importance of being open in the study of emerging disturbances and an open-minded approach to new and emerging technologies. With the rapid development of the global cyber landscape, Singapore will continue to be vigilant. Singapore has always focused on digital first strategy, investing in innovation and bridging the digital divide. Singapore will seek to unlock a new level of untapped opportunities through cooperationworking together to develop inclusive digital communities.

of Singapore Research on quantum technology is gaining momentum

Two new national quantum programs under the Quantum Engineering Program (QEP) 2.0 – the National Center for Quantum Computing (NQCH) and the National Quantum Fables Foundry (NQFF) – were launched at the ATxSG summit. QEP was created to apply quantum technology to solve real-world challenges and developments of Singapore quantum engineering skills.

NQCH will enhance talent development and enable researchers to explore how quantum computing can support industries such as the financial and chemical sectors. NQFF will support micro and nanoproduction of quantum devices.

As part of the development of the National Quantum Safe Network (NQSN) for Singapore, IMDA, together with the Institutes of Higher Education, industry and research partners will work together to operate and implement NQSN in Singapore’s optical network infrastructure.


Following the introductory address, the exclusive ATxSummit launched its range of exciting panel discussions with invitations, covering a wide range of topics such as quantum computing, the metaverse and sustainability for a green digital future, and saw the exchange of ideas from speakers on digital issues.
