Artists Sanford Biggers with his work 'Of Many Waters...' at the new Orange County Museum of Art in Costa Mesa, California on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Commissioned for the opening of the new OCMA building, Of many waters... (2022 ) is a 24-foot-wide by 16-foot-high multimedia outdoor sculpture that works as a combination and continuation of Biggers' Chimera, Shimmer, and Codex series. A hybridized figure, the sculpture combines an archetype of a European recumbent male figure with a 19th-century double-faced Baule mask assembled from metallic sequins.
