The New York Jets landed what could be the theft of the 2022 NFL draft in the former star of the state of Florida in defense, Jermaine Johnson. After a dominant season in Tallahassee, Johnson is ready to continue to thrive on a franchise that seeks leaders in the recovery process.

Could another former Seminole join Johnson as a budding star in the Big Apple? According to a recent forecast by Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated, this is possible. While making 100 bold predictions for the 2022 season, Orr predicted that an undefeated free agent, runaway quarterback Jason Corbyn, would break into the scene with the New York Giants.
„98. Jason Corbin is the free agent we will all be talking about
Saquon Barkley has a renaissance, but Corbyn will appear as a potential star in the attack on head coach Brian Daball. The patience of the former backfield of the state of Florida brings him careers in early 2022.
There was optimism that Corbyn would be selected late in the recent draft, but that failed because he had difficulties during the preliminary draft process. Nevertheless, he quickly struck a deal with the New York Giants, a team that had a hard time coming back recently with the endurance of star Sakwon Barkley.
After a series of 1K + seasons on the field to start his career, Barley has appeared in only 15 games in the last two years. He played in 13 games in 2021, averaging just 3.7 yards of experience and finding the final zone only twice. Barkley’s unpredictability makes him a substitute who enters the season and the team needs another option in the stable.

There’s not much behind Barkley at the time. The Giants have four other contract runs; Matt Braida, Antonio Williams, Gary Brightwell and Corbyn. Braida is the most experienced in the group, but has been kept less than 300 yards on the ground in each of the last two years. Williams has not appeared in a game since 2020, while Brightwell has never been involved in running, mainly contributing to special teams.
This means that there is a legitimate opportunity for Corbyn to join the list and insist on a reserve position behind Barkley if he can start quickly in training camp. Although he has no game-changing speed or athleticism, the Florida-born has the ability to return successfully to the NFL. Corbyn also has a chip on his shoulder after being left undrafted.
“Obviously, I was a little hurt that I wasn’t chosen, but honestly, it’s a disguised blessing,” Corbyn told The Athletic. “It just adds another chip to my shoulder. I just feel like this is the story of my life, proving that people are wrong and proving that people who believe in me are right. I’m just grateful that they gave me the opportunity and I have to go and make the most of it. “
During his two years at Florida State, Corbyn started in 20 of his 21 appearances, recording 224 attempts for 1,288 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 44 catches for 249 yards and another result. According to Giants head coach Brian Dabol, Corbyn lit up during the team’s mini-rookie mini-camp.
