SLIPKNOT drummer Jay Weinberg announced its debut solo exhibition, “Fluffy area”.
On July 7, c Rampart Studios Gallery (2520 Sunset Blvd.) in Los Angeles, Weinberg will show a collection of oil paintings for the first time since starting this work eight years ago.
Jay said: ““Fluffy area” is a collection that contains 14 paintings that I have made in the last eight years. Whether set in the beauty of the natural world or in complete darkness, each painting tells a piece of personal narrative that explores themes of connection and isolation. Visceral emotions of vulnerability, comfort, lust and anxiety. Love found and love lost. Others explore the mysterious connection to nature that I felt from an early age, wandering among the trees and streams in the remote forests of rural New Jersey.
“Each piece took between 30 and 100 hours to complete and serves as a touchstone for this methodical practice of understanding and going beyond the emotional turning points of my life that brought me to where I am today.
“It is a pleasure to finally share these works with you. Please join us on July 7 in Los Angeles for the physical exhibition of this work.
“And – for those who * can’t * attend the physical show … don’t worry. @opticnerve_io and I are preparing a virtual environment in which you can participate in the celebrations from anywhere in the world. More on that soon… “
Jay discovered SLIPKNOT when he was a teenager before, through his father Maxon Bruce Springsteen‘s E STREET BANDand leader of the house gang of Conan O’Brientalk show. He immediately fell in love and was a big fan of SLIPKNOT until he was invited to Los Angeles to try out as a replacement for Los Angeles Joey Jordison in 2013.
For the first few months after the release of 2014 “.5: The Gray Head”members of SLIPKNOT declined to name the musicians who played drums and bass during their tour, despite the fact that their identities were revealed as Weinberg and bassist Alessandro “Vman” Venturela from a disgruntled former Drumtech for SLIPKNOT who posted a photo on a behind-the-scenes conversation sheet Instagram.
SLIPKNOT announced his separation from Jordison in December 2013, but did not disclose the reasons for his departure. The drummer subsequently issued a statement saying he had not left the band.
Jordison died “peacefully in his sleep” in July 2021 for an unspecified reason. He was 46 years old.
Asked in a 2016 interview Music radar how respectful he felt he should be Joeythe legacy of and how much he felt free to make it his own, Weinberg said: “To have great respect for the band’s music, to have great respect for Joey Jordison as a person and as a player, I understood my role in the need to deliver what this group needed and to understand what Joey brought to the table and the legacy of this band continues in the way that Maggots, the band’s fans, respect and the nine of us are proud of the music we create.
“Of course, the history of the band is reflected in what I think about the band, but when it came time to come up with new material, new songs, I didn’t think about Joey Jordison a little bit, “he continued.” And I feel it would be disrespectful to do that, and the band wanted me to be completely myself. Because why would I want to be Joey Jordisonwhy try to imitate what he did?
“Joeyis one of the greatest drummers we have had the privilege of witnessing. So as a fan of the band and someone who respects people and music, I didn’t want to go in and try to be a copy. It’s not interesting for me, it’s not interesting for the band and it would be offensive to everyone involved, including the fans. “
Before joining SLIPKNOT,, Weinberg was a member of AGAINST ME!playing with the Florida band from November 2010 to December 2012.
Weinberg joined AGAINST ME! shortly after he was expelled from MADBALL and after the departure of AGAINST ME!the previous stickman, George Rebelo.
In May 2013 Weinberg completed for QUELERTAK drummer Ketil Germundrod during the band ‘s tour of North America because Gjermundrod he had to bend over from running after experiencing significant pain in his arm.
