MI-HQ Acquires College of Business Building at the University of Eastern Michigan

The revitalized building will create a science and technology center for downtown life Ypsilantscomplete with medical offices, numerous restaurants and state-of-the-art wet laboratory facilities.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, June 20, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Michigan Innovation Headquarters (MI-HQ) – a leader in the development of innovative workspaces in the field of life sciences and technology – has signed an agreement to purchase University of Eastern Michigan former headquarters of the College of Business, the Gary Owens Building, downtown Ypsilants. The building will be purchased for $ 2.6 million and will undergo additional $ 10 million renovation to build an innovative shared workspace for STEM companies.

MI-HQ plans to completely renovate the 130,000-square-foot building to provide functional space for entrepreneurs and scientists, while supporting the growth of Ypsilants. The space is expected to open in the first quarter of 2023 and will provide 300 new jobs to the city.

MI-HQ will renovate the space into an attractive, modern workspace to include the following features:

This is the fourth location of MI-HQ and is one of three acquisitions planned for 2022 and 2023. The new building is located at 300 W. Michigan Ave., which is a central point for tenants, offering easy opportunities for airport and bus transport, as well as numerous local dining options.
