Chad Kathy has been appointed COO of Lakeview Regional Medical Centercampus of Tulane Medical Center.

Cathey has executive responsibility for the operational procedures of the 167-bed acute care hospital and will be part of the team responsible for the hospital’s strategic planning.

Cathey most recently served as senior director of hospital operations for Our Lady of The Lake Children’s Hospital, a Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System facility in Baton Rouge. Cathey has 10 years of operational experience. He worked as an administrative associate at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and was project manager for the Department of Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from LSU, an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Thomas Alleman is employed by OnPath Federal Credit Union as senior vice president of growth.

Aleman comes from Corporate One FCU, a $6 billion corporate credit union, where he was assistant vice president of key accounts.

Prior to joining Corporate One, Aleman was a regional director for JMFA, a non-interest income and non-interest expense consulting firm. He was also a licensed relationship banker with JPMorgan Chase Bank in New Orleans and a teller at Whitney National Bank prior to that.

Annie Mathern joined Gambel Communications as Senior Communications Strategist.

Matherne will develop and manage communications strategy and solutions for a variety of clients, including Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana, Hilton New Orleans Riverside and Sankofa.

She is the former Director of Public Affairs for the Audubon Nature Institute.

She majored in Public Relations and Advertising and minored in Business Administration at Spring Hill College. While in college, Mattern worked as an intern at Gambel.

Jeffrey FernandezOchsner Health senior vice president and executive advisor, has assumed the role of CEO of the new Ochsner Health Plan.

Fernandez replaces Terry Schilling, who served as a consultant to lead the health plan’s implementation.

Prior to joining Ochsner in August 2021, Fernandez was senior vice president of Humana’s Medicare West segment, responsible for Medicare Advantage operations in 17 states, including Louisiana. His career at Humana spanned 16 years.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from LSU, an MBA from the University of New Orleans and a law degree from Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans.

Baton Rouge

Jennifer Clavers has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Virgin of the Lake of Health.

Clowers has 16 years of service within the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, most recently serving as the system’s vice president of ambulatory services. She held various positions at Our Lady of Lourdes Health, starting as Vice President of Finance/Controller before moving up to CFO and eventually Interim Market President.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from Louisiana Tech University.

Mel Collins was elected president of NPC services.

Collins has served as NPC’s facility manager since 2004, managing day-to-day operations and administration, operations staff and coordination of contracted services.

Collins succeeds Bill Dawson, who retired after 36 years.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from LSU.

Dr. Victoria Bourgeois and Dr. Nathan Sugarman have joined General Practitioners in Baton Rougelocated on the campus of Bluebonnet Hospital.

Bourgeois will see patients in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic, and Sugarman will care for patients at Baton Rouge Family Medical Center.

Bourgeois received her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the LSU Health Sciences Center at Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Sugarman received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California and his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at Baton Rouge General, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Pratipa Santhanam join the group of suppliers of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health.

Santhanam is a pediatric gastroenterologist who treats patients with a variety of conditions including abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, eosinophilic esophagitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

She received her BA in Biology, Physics and Chemistry from Anglo-Chinese Junior College and her PhD from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. She went on to complete her pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and her ACGME fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina.
