In the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Vienna, the position of a

University professor
on
Nursing Sciences

(full-time, permanent position) is to be filled.

The professorship represents the subject of nursing in research and teaching. The applicant must have a clearly identifiable research profile in an area relevant to nursing science. Through the thematic focus, the professorship contributes to the further development of the discipline of nursing science and strengthens the faculty’s research activity in this area. The professorship is open to different methodological approaches and to collaboration within the university and the faculty. The professorship represents the subject in an appropriate theoretical and methodological range in both introductory and advanced courses, especially in the Master of Science in Nursing program and the Doctor of Social Sciences program with specialization in Nursing.

Successful applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • PhD/PhD degree and postdoctoral experience with a nursing focus at a university or other research institution
  • A habilitation (venia docendi) in a subject area relevant to this position or an internationally accepted equivalent qualification is desirable
  • Outstanding achievements in nursing research, excellent publications, international reputation
  • Experience in the design, provision and management of large research projects, and the willingness and ability to lead research groups
  • Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, university teaching experience, as well as the ability and desire to teach students primarily in all phases of their studies (Bachelor, Master or PhD), supervise academic dissertations and encourage young academic colleagues

The University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to acquire, within three years, a level of German language proficiency sufficient to teach in master’s programs and to participate in university committees. In addition, the University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to be prepared to take responsibility at the organizational level of the faculty and the university, if necessary.
