Delta Air Lines, in partnership with Misapplied Sciences, will launch the first PARALLEL REALITY of its kind™ beta experience for customers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport from June 29.
This category definition technology debuted at CES for the first time in 2020, it allows up to 100 customers to see personalized content tailored to their unique journey on a single digital screen. Customers who take part in the experience will see personalized flight and orientation information. Each viewer will receive a unique and personalized experience, even when standing next to dozens of other viewers enjoying their own uniquely personalized experiences.

Customers can find this new technology in Hall A of the McNamara terminal, just after the security checkpoint. Customers leaving DTW will be able to experience the mind-boggling technology and share their contribution directly with Delta, as the airline seeks to understand its efficiency in the real world before potentially expanding to other airports.
How to experience the exhibition:
- After passing through the Detroit security, customers will see the PARALLEL REALITY display near the Delta Sky Club (Hall A, McNamara Terminal).
- To begin the experience:
- All customers are welcome to interact with the experience. Passengers with tickets can simply scan their boarding pass.
- Customers recorded in digital identity through the Fly Delta application can activate face recognition in the exhibition pavilion.
- Using multi-view pixels and proprietary technology, the PARALLEL REALITY experience allows each customer to see customized language-only messages as they pass the digital screen.
- Personalized messages include custom route search, flight information, or boarding time updates.
- This experience will always be included and customer information is not stored.
For the first time, PARALLEL REALITY technology caught the eye of experts at The Hangar, Delta’s innovation hub. Delta saw the opportunity to use this revolutionary innovation to transform the airport experience, allowing seamless, personalized travel as customers navigate from the curb to the port.

The PARALLEL REALITY experience is based on Delta’s efforts to modernize the on-site travel experience. In early 2021, Delta partnered with the Transportation Security Administration to introduce the first digital-to-door internal identity experience in Detroit, allowing customers to use face recognition technology and their passport number and membership. Since then, digital identity technology extended to Atlantaand new, modern Delta terminals in LAX and LGA now it also boasts of technology.
