Phillies World Series, Eagles on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football, Sixers, Union, Flyers

Things are about to get hectic for Philadelphia sports fans.

Thanks to the Phillies’ unexpected return to the World Series, the appearance of the Eagles on Amazon Thursday Night Footballand the Union playoffs, next week’s sports schedule will be tight.

The World Series will begin on Friday, but luckily for Phillies fans, MLB’s schedule makers were fortunate enough to schedule the World Series around the Eagles’ schedule — both days off (Sunday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Nov. 3) occurring when the undefeated birds are in action.

There are also Sixers and Flyers games, and the Union are also in their own playoff streak. After defeating FC Cincinnati, they will host FC New York City in the MLS Eastern Conference Final on Sunday night at Subaru Park. The win earns them a spot in the MLS Cup Final, which will air on Fox at 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 5 and lead to a potential Game 7 in the World Series.

The college basketball season doesn’t begin until Nov. 7 when Villanova takes on La Salle at The Pavilion. Then there’s the World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on November 20, with the United States playing its first game on November 21 against Wales.

The busy sports schedule will also lead to another sports equinox on Monday, October 31, because all of the major sports leagues – MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL – have games scheduled on the same day. When all is said and done, there will be three sporting equinoxes this year (Thursday, October 20 and Sunday, October 23 were the others).
