Place Your Beats: My Heroes Stage at Hollywood Casino offers a new entertainment option in central PA.

If diversity is the spice of life, then options and alternatives are a real pleasure. Complete the stage of My Heroes after five, four, three, two, one.

My Heroes Stage is the newest live music venue in Pennsylvania. Located at the Hollywood Casino in Grantville, it attracts renowned rock, pop, country and western artists from the Harrisburg area.

For Hollywood Casino, the place is a way to expand its business footprint, to spread its entertainment wings. But the real winners are the locals who love music.

“My Heroes Stage is more than just another place of entertainment at the casino,” said Dan Im, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course. “We wanted to provide a different experience. We are not here to compete with Hershey. We are here to complement them. They bring in a different type of artist than we would bring. “

More than just another concert, the My Heroes Stage show at Hollywood Casino is an intimate music experience.

Located on the north side of the complex, My Heroes Stage is within walking distance of the casino building, and the scenic Blue Mountains serve as a scenic backdrop for the huge stage. Outdoor seating can accommodate 5,000 guests, and concerts are held in a festive atmosphere in a carnival style.

Vendors, food trucks and open-air bars are nearby, entrance is reasonably priced and parking is free.

“I went to see Journey last summer just to see what it was,” said Glen Hamilton, program director and morning presenter for Harrisburg, WRVV 97.3 FM. “The thing I was impressed with was how big the stage was and the quality of the production. For the first annual endeavor, they made a great show. No one knew what to expect. You are surrounded by mountains and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. ”

From a business standpoint, My Heroes Stage was a pandemic-born opportunity. With the easing of COVID restrictions, August 19, 2021 proved to be the perfect time to open a new outdoor music venue.

Or, as Ihm put it, “we caught the moment last year and now it’s growing.”

“I think in general we’re just making Dauphin County a bigger destination,” he said. “We create value for fun. We’re bringing in new people who may not have come here before. The more reasons we give people to come to the area, the more opportunities for economic growth. ”

Last year, My Heroes Stage offered a limited series of six shows, a schedule that includes music legend John Fogherty, comedian Larry The Cable Guy and rock band Journey. The schedule for 2022 has expanded to include 15 concerts, including big names such as Martina McBride, Bush, Big & Rich, Collective Soul, Rick Springfield, Men At Work and John Waite.

“I think they have a great place that fits into the local live music scene,” Hamilton said. “There is a need and it fills the need in this market. There is no better way for an artist or band to connect with their audience than through a live performance. You are there personally with someone you like or love. ”

There is also a direct community element in My Heroes Stage.

The place is named in honor of the active military, veterans, police, firefighters and first aid teams. In addition, part of the proceeds from the show are donated to myheroes charities.

“The concept of My Heroes is part of our loyalty program,” IHM said. “Penn National is very involved in providing military services. It was very important for us to bring back and provide live entertainment to the community. For me, it’s about giving back to all the people who have given so much to us and our community. “

In a unique way, My Heroes Stage is a natural entertainment progression of Hollywood Casino and Penn National. The thoroughbred horse racing at the Grantville property began on August 30, 1972, and the Hollywood Casino was built in 2008.

“You have all these amenities, all these different things to do in one place,” Ihm said. “I do not think there is a better place to go. People can come here and you don’t have to bet. We just want to introduce more people to our product. We are in the entertainment business and we are doing well. ”

There are few vehicles with as universal an appeal as music. Music has the power to connect generations and unite people.

“Central Pennsylvania loves live music,” Hamilton said. “It simply came to our notice then, with so many different places. None of the places hurt; everyone is doing well. My advice would be, buy a ticket, go to a show and be a judge yourself. There is nothing like it. ”

My Heroes Stage is located at the Hollywood Casino on Penn National Race Course, 777 Hollywood Blvd., Grantville. For more information, visit www.hollywoodpnrc.com/entertainment/myheroes-stage.
