The THRIVE Pathway is designed to break the cycle of chronic loneliness with the understanding that this condition is not just about isolation. When defined as a health disease, loneliness refers to how people feel about the quantity and quality of their social interactions.
The science behind loneliness continues to link it to the harmful effects on physical and mental health. It actually rearranges the brain and affects a person’s ability to engage and participate in their own health. If left unchecked, this is a door to costly health interventions.
THRIVE combines a meaningfully caring, compassionate human relationship with simple technology. This successful formula allows access to self-management tools for short-term and long-term positive health outcomes. He deals with the three dimensions of loneliness – feelings of relational connection, isolation and collective connection. He does this by focusing on thoughts and behaviors related to perceived social isolation through proven methods of intervention. The first step is a range of compassion and understanding to foster a sense of optimism and foster social ties. Simple technology complements this human commitment.
For consumers, THRIVE allows them to learn, take action and receive positive support through a special eight-week program that helps them achieve specific goals.
Cindy JordanPyx Health CEO said: “THRIVE is a successful and tangible solution that reduces the impact of loneliness. Because it combines the human connection with technology, it is both personal and scalable. And it makes a difference.
This difference, as established by the pilot, is a reduction in loneliness. Chief Medical Officer of Pyx Health Dr. Thomas M. Ball He said: “Those in the program have made improvements in social, emotional and relational connectivity. This is an exciting time for Pyx and, more importantly, an opportunity to tackle chronic loneliness and improve the lives of the millions who suffer from it. ”
THRIVE is an excellent opportunity to support Medicaid and Medicare members, who are often underserved. On average, 10 percent of those on these health plans are chronically lonely, especially those with chronic illnesses and struggling with mental health and social determinants of health (SDOH).
Medicaid and Medicare plans have access to THRIVE through Pyx Health’s solitude solution. The program begins with identifying members who are currently or at risk of experiencing loneliness through in-app screening and trained Compassion Support Center (CSCS) staff. Pyx Health’s own risk model then gives priority to members who need urgent work. They are invited to start the program, and a special CSCS guides the way with weekly activities in positive psychology. Upon completion, users can continue to use the app to monitor and re-enter health plan programs. Plans can also use THRIVE to achieve Triple Aim’s goals of improving members’ health and satisfaction, as well as reducing costs.
