Chelsea and Inter have reached an agreement to hire striker Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky in Italy.
Inter will pay a fee of 8 million euros (6.9 million British pounds) plus supplements, and the transfer is subject to medical examination.
Chelsea paid Inter 97.5 million pounds to sign Lukaku last summer, but the Belgian scored only eight goals in the Premier League in 26 games.
In December, Lukaku said The sky in Italy he wanted to return to Inter one day. He said: “I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but still at a good level, in order to hope to win more.”
It was revealed last week that Inter could not afford to sign Lukaku – who scored 64 goals in 95 games and helped them win the Serie A title during their time at the club – with a permanent contract.
“One of the worst transfers in the history of PL”
Sky Sports News chief reporter Cave Solhekol:
“I think it’s close, but it’s not inevitable. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta spoke earlier, saying they had taken the opportunity to try to re-sign Romelu Lukaku, but that was not inevitable. He said it would not be announced today.
“There is no positive twist you can put on that. The transfer will go down in Premier League history as one of the worst transfer deals of all time. Chelsea signed him for almost £ 100 million, he was brilliant for two seasons at Inter, but he came to Chelsea and things quickly started to go wrong.
“He gave this interview to Sky Italy, in which he actually said he wanted to return to Inter. From the outside, his heart didn’t seem to be in him. I understand that he doesn’t particularly like the way Chelsea play under Thomas Tuchel, but he doesn’t seem to have tried too hard to adapt. I think the vast majority of Chelsea supporters will be happy to see his back.
“But it’s an incredible story, a player who was signed for almost £ 100 million returns to Inter a year later for what will probably be a loan deal, and Inter will pay £ 10 million to begin with. And then there are his salaries, because he receives about £ 325,000 a week at Chelsea. Someone close to the talks told us yesterday that he was leaving. He has no future at Chelsea. “
Which positions is Chelsea targeting?
Senior Sky Sports News reporter Melissa Reddy:
Chelsea are moving forward with their summer recruitment plans now that Todd Boyle’s consortium to take over the club has been completed.
The Blues already have an oral agreement with Sevilla defender Jules Kunde, with the Spanish club preferring a quick deal as they seek to balance their balance before June 30.
Negotiations for a Kunde deal failed last year, but there is optimism on all sides that it will be over this time.
Presnel Kimpembe of Paris Saint-Germain is part of the list of central defense options and is a favorite of Thomas Tuchel. Jose Jimenez from Atletico Madrid and Yosko Guardiol from RB Leipzig are also among those observed.
Chelsea like Monaco midfielder Aurelien Chuameni, but he is expected to end up at Real Madrid. PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare is among the sought-after alternatives.
