Saints, Browns headline Cowherd’s Week 8 ‘Blazin’ 5′

With 8 weeks from NFL the season resumes on sunday, Colin Coward revealed his “Blazin’ 5” predictions on Friday’s edition of “The Herd.”

Here are Cowherd’s top picks, accompanied by odds and totals presented by FOX Bet.

Blazin’ 5: Lions upset Tua, Browns cover against Bengals

Colin Cowherd shares his Blazin’ 5 picks for Week 8 of the NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals (+3.5) at Minnesota Vikings 1 p.m. ET, FOX

Cowherd’s Pick, Score Prediction: Cardinals +3.5 (Cardinals win 28-27)

Colin’s thoughts: “Listen, you [the Cardinals] they have problems in attack but they don’t give the ball away. Only the Eagles have fewer turnovers. Kyler Murray is now running more and DeAndre Hopkins is back. And the Cardinals have been a freakishly good road team since 2021. Don’t ask me, but inserting DeAndre Hopkins back into the offense and Murray’s legs now — he’s ready to run — make the difference. The Vikings are good, but they are outgained by 270 yards, all of their plays are close and they are giving up six yards per play. This is an explosive Arizona team.”

Las Vegas Raiders at The New Orleans Saints (+1.5) 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Cowherd’s Pick, Score Prediction: Saints +1.5 (Saints win 24-23)

Colin’s thoughts: “They are [the Saints] coming out of additional rest; I always love this. And the Raiders, let’s be honest, their wins were against the Broncos, [who] the texans are terrible and they needed a fourth quarter comeback to beat the texans. The Raiders defense is brutal. They have the worst pass defense in the league. Opposing quarterbacks have an average passer rating of 105. And those games they won last year, all close games, they’re 0-4 in close games and 0-3 on the road. Raiders, I like their offensive talent, a little smoke and mirrors here. A very close game.”

Miami Dolphins at Detroit Lions (+3.5) 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Cowherd’s Pick, Score Prediction: Lions +3.5 (Lions to win 30-27)

Colin’s thoughts: “They are at home [the Lions] different team. Jared Goff at home this year, look at their offense, in his 11 home starts he has a 102 passer rating. At home, they’re getting 38 points, seven yards per play and getting healthy. D’Andre Swift practiced Wednesday and Thursday. TJ Hockenson, their standout young tight end, will play, so they get their weapons back. And the Dolphins, they are one of four teams in the league with a winning record and a negative point differential. There is a ceiling once they come out of scripted plays [in] what they can do and they’re a little overwhelmed in some of their parts defensively.”

New England Patriots (-2.5) at New York Jets 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Cowherd’s Pick, Score Prediction: Patriots -2.5 (Patriots win 27-20)

Colin’s thoughts: “They are [the Patriots] after a humiliating loss. My rule, when great players or great coaches are humiliated, they come back the next week. I listen [Bill] Belichick feasts on average quarterbacks, especially average young quarterbacks, and that’s Zach Wilson. Zach has less than 200 yards passing in back-to-back games. They are missing Brice Hall, Corey Davis, Alija Vera-Tucker. That’s a bad spot for a quarterback who needs protection and plays. He loses his best defender and running back.”

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns (+3.5) 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN

Cowherd’s Pick, Score Prediction: Browns +3.5 (Bengals win 28-27)

Colin’s thoughts: “Cleveland is giving Cincinnati trouble for some reason. Kevin Stefanski’s 4-0 against the Bengals. Five games have been decided by three points or less for the Browns this year, their five games, so they are coming into some close games. Their offense this season you’d think was terrible, but they’re running the hell out of Cleveland football; this is no surprise. Nick Chubb leads the NFL in rushing yards and rushing TDs with eight. And Bengals, listen up, Ja’Mar Chase is out; it’s a big deal. The Browns don’t have many Monday Night Football games at home. It will be like Mardi Gras. And Joe Burrow still gets fired a lot. I’m getting great corners for Cleveland, Myles Garrett without Ja’Marr Chase. I think it happens until the last minute. I’ll give Cincinnati a win, either way.”
