Shaking Up the Local Art Scene | Arts and entertainment

A local woman hopes to reach art lovers through her affordable, one-of-a-kind pendants, as well as those lucky enough to find one of her hidden treasures on local beaches.

Debra Kirk-Rogers is the founder of Heart & Stones, a business that brings her back to her artistic roots. Kirk-Rogers has always had a love for art, even winning a blue ribbon for painting at a county fair. “I spent a lot of time in the art room drawing and painting because I’m an introvert,” she said. She married at 18, and when she and her husband moved to Spokane, Kirk-Rogers took the opportunity to further her education and earned a professional art degree. After living in California, Utah and Washington, she moved to Oregon in 1993.
