SKF has partnered with Heat and Control, Inc. to develop innovative transport technology

New FastBack® 4.0 debuts at Pack Expo 2022

LANSDALE, PA, October 25, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — SKF has entered into a unique collaborative partnership with Heat and Control, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of equipment solutions, to assist in the design of a new horizontal motion technology, FastBack 4.0. The transformative technology will be launched at Pack Expo International 2022 in Chicago at the end of October.

The partnership developed when Heat and Control asked SKF to contribute to the design of the company’s latest revolution in horizontal motion equipment. In response, SKF assembled a team including application engineering, research and development and product development, plus support from factories around the world. As a leading bearing manufacturer that also manufactures seals, SKF has a unique perspective on the interaction of elements in rotating equipment. Based on SKF’s many years of experience in a wide range of industries, the team was able to refine and improve the customer’s design for FastBack 4.0, bringing huge benefits to horizontal motion conveying in food processing markets.

SKF engineers relied on extensive industry knowledge, experience and simulation tools to translate Heat and Control requirements into an application-specific design for rapid development. The team analyzed the concept to determine the estimated life of the bearings and lubrication used on the FastBack 4.0.

The design process for FastBack 4.0 focused on the following areas

– Improved sanitation porting
– Trouble-free operation without maintenance and without lubrication
– Can be washed under high pressure
– Reduced downtime for maintenance and cleaning
– Improved performance and longer service life
