Smithville native joins Kansas City Outlaws | Entertainment

KANSAS CITY — The Kansas City Outlaws, a professional bull riding team, have signed Smithville native Coltin Hevalow to the team’s protected list ahead of the start of the Professional Bull Riders team series in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on July 25-26, according to a team release .

Hevalow joins the Kansas City Outlaws after initially being signed as a free agent to the Arizona Ridge Riders’ practice squad.

“I’m excited to be close to home,” Hevalow said after the trade. “Now that I’m with the Kansas City Outlaws, it’s pretty crazy and I’m ready.”

The PBR Team Series is defined where riders join teams to compete in five-on-five bull riding games for a national championship. Eight founding teams will compete in the inaugural 2022 season: Arizona Ridge Riders, Austin Gamblers, Carolina Cowboys, Missouri Thunder, Nashville Stampede, Oklahoma Freedom, Texas Rattlers and Kansas City Outlaws.

In his debut event, competing at the Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour’s mid-February stop in Youngstown, Ohio, Hevalow went a flawless 3-for-3 to win the expansion series event.

Hevalow debuts at the elite Unleash The Beast the very next weekend in St. Louis. As the individual season continued to develop, Hevalow registered additional top-10 finishes before qualifying for his first Velocity Tour final, where he finished eighth. Hevalo finished his debut season ranked No. 78 in the world.

During his short tenure as a member of the Arizona Ridge Riders, Hevalow rode in both preseason events held in Bismarck, North Dakota, and Tryon, North Carolina. During Team Arizona’s 255.5-86 win against Oklahoma while at North Carolina, Hevalow added a key score of 86.25 points for Feeling Dangerous to seal the win.

The Kansas City Outlaws have made two additional roster changes. In addition to signing Bill Henry (Manila, UT) to the practice squad, the team opted to release Colton Dougherty (Woodburn, OR).

Hevalow and Henry join a talented Kansas City Outlaws roster, including Missouri native and reigning PBR Rookie of the Year Bob Mitchell (Steelville). The team is rounded out by: Dalton Cassell (Mulshaw, TX), Rafael Enrique dos Santos (Sebastianopolis, Brazil), Tate Pohlmeier (Fort Scott, Kansas), Marcus Mast (Middlebury, IN), Cole Melancon (Sour Lake, TX), Dustin Martinez (Cangilon, New Mexico), Sam Woodall (Haywood, Victoria, Australia), Clancy Hart (Valley View, Texas) and Kyler Oliver (Roy, Utah).

During the regular season for the PBR Team Series, each team will compete in 28 head-to-head five-on-five bull riding games held in 10 events. The team with the highest total score will be the winner of the game and ties will be allowed.

Each team will host a three-day homestand, welcoming the seven other teams, while also competing in two neutral site events, beginning with the season-opening event in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The season will conclude in Las Vegas on November 4-6, when the teams will face each other in the PBR Team Series Championship, fighting for the Team Series Championship title.

When the 2022 season begins July 25-26 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the Kansas City Outlaws will compete against the Oklahoma Freedom and Texas Rattlers.

Following the event in Cheyenne, the Outlaws will host their first home opener Aug. 5-7 in Kansas City, Mo., at the T-Mobile Center, the second event of the 2022 PBR Team Series season.

During their first home event, the Outlaws will play the Arizona Ridge Riders on August 5th, the Nashville Stampede on August 6th and the Missouri Thunder on August 7th.
