South Bend High School sports changed after Milt Lee’s freshman year

SOUTH BEND — The surface of the whiteboard hanging on the wall in Milt Lee’s office is covered with scribbles and notes, some legible, some not so much.

The one in the upper right corner is clear as day and something that catches the eye. Lee, the director of community activities and K-12 athletics for the South Bend Community School Corporation, has designed a future plan for a summer drill competition between South Bend high schools.

interesting entertainment. A way to build competition and progress in any school. More than anything else, this speaks to Lee’s bigger picture of his vision for school athletics in South Bend.

Lee has been on the job for 16 months now, starting in April 2021, starting work in the midst of the ongoing pandemic to build better connectivity across the region.
