Talking business: The new Longview nail salon offers alternatives to acrylic nails Local business

Min Le is a second-generation nail technician who opened his first salon in January in Longview to transfer his knowledge to the industry in an area where his experience will be appreciated.

“Longview looks like a beauty city,” said the Amboy resident. “Everyone seems to be doing their hair and nails in this town.”

Apex Nails and Spa is a 5,000-square-foot building with expansive windows off Washington Way near The Office 842. pampering, said Min.

“We try to keep it modern, but minimal,” said the 31-year-old Min.

The nine employees of the salon offer manicures, pedicures, wax masks and hairstyles. The building has 20 pedicure chairs and 18 manicure tables, but they are positioned in a way that customers “never feel super crowded,” Min said.

Private pedicure rooms are available for several guests, and those who receive services for more than an hour can receive a free glass of 6-ounce or 8-ounce beer.

Waxing options offered in the salon include services for the nose, ears, lips, chin, eyebrows, toes, feet and back.

Manicure options

Customers can choose from a 30-minute, 45-minute or one-hour pedicure that ranges from $ 40 to $ 60. A classic manicure starts at $ 30, while a gel and acrylic manicure costs more.

Apex Nails and Spa offers alternatives to acrylic manicure, a popular way to add artificial extensions to real nails. Alternatives may look more natural because they are thinner and can do less damage to natural nails, Min said. He said that after people remove acrylic nails, natural nails often feel thin.

During a Gel-X manicure, technicians paint extensions with a gel that hardens under ultraviolet light.

During a manicure with dipping powder, the technicians cover the nails in a clear liquid and dip them in colored powder several times.

Min said that powder manicure is safer for people who are allergic to acrylic nail monomer. The Apex website says that the power of immersion can add strength and length to nails.

Min said that the most popular style of manicure is a pointed square tip, known as ballerina or coffin-shaped nails.

“Shoot to be the best”

The salon is unique to the area, Min said, due to his commitment to wellness.

Unlike other salons, Min said the strong, toxic smell of nail polish was minimized by an exhaust fan that “constantly removes chemicals from the air” inside the building. The channels are located on manicure tables.

The salon also wears hundreds of colors in nail polish lines such as The Gel Bottle, a vegan brand without cruelty known to be long-lasting and scratch-resistant, Min said.

Min said his father owns a nail salon in Maryland and his mother owns a salon in Beaverton, Oregon.
