The sidewalks in downtown Pasadena are being turned into art canvases this weekend. Cretaceous art.

The Pascadena Chalk Art Festival – in all its colorful iterations – filled the sidewalks in and around Paseo Colorado, making it an annual destination for those who love to see the land itself become a platform for creation.

There were large and small murals.

Organizers said there will be about 200 murals and more than 500 artists, art galleries and a quiet auction, a children’s art area and live music.

The event combines chalk art on the sidewalk with live entertainment at Paseo.

The festival will run until 7pm on Saturday and get ready for another 10am to 7pm on Sunday.
