Daytona Beach Pools

The City of Daytona Beach offers swimming pool access at Campbell Aquatic Center, 400 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and Cypress Aquatic Center, 981 George W. Engram Blvd.

Cypress Aquatic Center has new hours. Cypress will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Daily admission is $3 for adults and $2 for ages 17 and older.

The Campbell Aquatic Center is temporarily closed for resurfacing of both pools and installation of a new motor pump.

Dickerson Center

Daytona Beach residents can feel the burn with cardio kickboxing at the Dickerson Center at 308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd.

Classes are available for adults from noon to 1pm Monday to Friday and from 5pm to 6pm for youth ages 5 to 17. Each session is $5 per person.

Midtown Center

Grown Folks Basketball will meet from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm every Thursday at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center at 925 George W. Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach.

Men aged 40 and over are invited to play and show some game. Entrance is free.

Community Center Nova

The Nova Community Center gym is open at 440 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach.

Opening hours are 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 1pm to 5.30pm on Sundays.

Ora yoga

Ora Yoga will be 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at The Casements, 25 S. Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach.

The class will also meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays at Bailey Riverbridge, 1 N. Beach St., Ormond Beach.

Ormond Beach Tennis Center

Ormond Beach Tennis Center is open 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to 2 pm Friday through Sunday at 38 E. Granada Blvd.

It offers member and non-member play and classes seven days a week.

Picton

Pictona offers fitness classes at 1060 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill.

Stretch & flex will meet at 10am every Monday. Yoga Plus will meet at 9:30am every Wednesday. Tai-Chi Fusion will meet at 10am every Thursday. Donations are accepted for each class.

Pilates

Pilates Stretch & Balance will meet from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Casements, 25 S. Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach.

Downtown South Ormond

South Ormond Neighborhood Center is open 1 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 176 Division Ave., Ormond Beach.

The center has baseball and basketball fields. The tennis courts are closed as the center is being renovated.

Yoga in the gallery

Yoga in the Gallery will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, in the gallery of the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.

Ashley Brooks of Holistic Movements leads the hour-long session. The class is open to all experience levels. Participants must bring a mat, towel and water. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

YSG Community Centre

Kung Fu and Tai Chi classes are offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at The Yvonne Scarlett-Golden Cultural and Educational Center, 1000 Vine St., Daytona Beach. The fee is $40 per month.

The gym is open for Daytona Beach residents to play basketball from 8am to 8pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 2pm to 8pm Thursday at the center.

Senior fitness class

Jojo’s Fitness and Fun, a fitness class for adults, will meet at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Ponce Inlet Community Center, 4670 S. Peninsula Drive.

The class will focus on cardio, strength and balance. Hand weights, resistance bands and a ball will be used. All equipment provided. Participants should bring a water bottle. First class is free, $6 per class after that.

Chair yoga courses

Chair yoga classes are offered from 4:30-5:30pm on Tuesdays at the Daytona Beach Shores Community Center at 3000 Bellemead Drive.

The class is for those who will practice sitting and standing postures using a support chair to help improve balance, posture, energy, breathing, strength, flexibility and relaxation.

The center also offers light yoga classes from 6-7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays with poses from floor to standing. Yoga classes are taught by Mardi Williams, a certified yoga teacher.

The price is $8. Daytona Beach Shores residency and membership are not required.

Exercises for a maturing body

Synergy Senior Fitness presents Exercise for the Maturing Body with classes led by Senior Fitness Specialist Artie Gardella.

Classes meet at noon Tuesdays at Grace Episcopal Church, 4110 S. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange, and at noon Fridays at First Baptist Church of Port Orange, 316 Church St.

Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga will meet at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 17th at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.

Advanced Laughter Yoga leader Donna Marie O’Malley will guide participants in opening laughter channels and various exercises. No special equipment or clothing is required. All exercises can be done from the comfort of a chair.
